The Lesser of Two Evils

February 4, 2008

We all have these dilemmas in life. Spurs v Man U.

You really, really dislike Spurs and everything about them. You dislike Manchester United too, but not quite as much. Man U, however, are top of the league and your head says you need them to drop points. Your heart, however, wants Spurs to lose every game. So who do you want to win?

It may seem strange, but if one team had to win, I wanted it to be Man U. I simply wouldn’t have been able to stand Spurs fans claiming that their team was transformed and destined to win the Premier League next year. Although the points would have sent Man U back to the top, Arsenal still have plenty of games to overturn that, but Spurs beating Arsenal (2nd XI) and Man U within the space of a couple of weeks would have been quite unbearable.

1-1. Perfect. Head and heart are satisfied. Thank you, Mr Tevez.

Spurs are Shit

Our friends from N17 have a great chance of reaching the Carling Cup final on Tuesday night, and I think they may well manage it after our second string’s poor outing in the first leg. Hopefully our boys can turn it around, but Spurs have to be favourites.

However just case you needed any reminder of the gulf in class (and priorities) between the two clubs, get a load of this from Gus Poyet after their relegation clash with Sunderland:

We now have a massive game against Arsenal on Tuesday and, if we could get to the final, it might prove a turning point for this club in terms of winning things and getting into Europe again.

Yes, Spurs fans, it would be a major achievement for you to reach the Carling Cup final. Good luck.
